When a close friend asks you to partner with him in the cattle industry, you don’t think about it, you just do it.  Never wanting to shy away from a challenge, I got into the cattle business with my good friend Sampson.  In 2015, I got my first experience working with cattle; learning freeze-branding, semen testing bulls, and heifer development.  Although I am young in the cattle industry, I have been building and remodeling houses since 1995, served four years in the Air Force, and I have started and ran multiple businesses.

In 2012 I was connected to Sampson through a business friend. When I learned he worked with cattle, I immediately had questions.  I always had this wild idea that someday I would own a bull. I was able to work with Sampson and his brother Isaiah and travel to some different herds and assist in semen testing and freeze branding bulls. It ignited a fire in me that someday I would get to do that with my own bulls.

In 2020, the opportunity was presented to start SP Cattle Company alongside Sampson and my brother, Adam. My entrepreneurial spirit loves the challenges presented in the cattle industry. When I am not helping on the ranch, I am working to construct people’s dream home.  I have learned that cows are a lot like the building industry.  They both take a lot of expertise and commitment to the building process. Whether it’s cattle or construction, I have found that what people want is value for their money, quality, and a relationship to go with the service or product. My passion also includes the development of relationships and the experiences I am able to be a part of.

At 46 years of age, I have been married for 24 years, am blessed with four daughters. Along this journey of life, I am proud to have helped raise my daughters as well as an Olympic gold medalist, developed countless friendships, collaborated with some of the best builders, designers, and leaders in the business. As with any goals I set in this world, I hope that they remain in God’s plan and God’s will.  The ranch is a place I can work closely with my family and something we can be a part of together.  It is my goal to grow this business and eventually get out of the construction industry.  Cows don’t talk back. ☺
