Faith, Family, Country, and Cattle. This is the foundation that SP Cattle Company has been founded on. Our mission at SP Cattle Company is to provide alternative genetics to improve cattle. With a focus on fertility, longevity, performance, and convenience traits that relate to overall total performance and profitability.

Faith

When God has convicted our minds, purified our hearts, and put His wisdom within us, our motives do, in fact, often become good. They aren’t always self deception simply because they proceed from within us. God has put Himself within us by faith. Sometimes our intentions are the product of sincerely seeking his will with an undivided heart. Even so, there is nothing practically worthwhile about them until they are carried out. Perhaps they honor God in spirit, but who will see His honor if they are buried deep within? A good plan without proactive diligence is pointless. The vision that God has given His servants, the works He has called them to, the glory he wants them to reflect-all begin in the heart, but they do not end there. They end by moving us into action. We become His children by faith, but we become His servants by work. Good Godly intentions are meant to be lived, not dreamed of. They are planted in our hearts to move us, not to entertain us. The impulses of a spirit filled person are a call to action.

Family

We strive on a daily basis to have a work life balance. While cattle are a deep and integral part of our lives, our family still comes first. That is why the cattle we produce are designed to work for us and not us working for them. Cattle need to breed back, gain on forages, calve unassisted and breed back again. Anything short of that, takes time away from our family and that is just not acceptable to us. Teaching our children that the right type of cattle can allow us to make a comfortable living, having a life of freedom and enjoyment.  

Country

Land is the only product that we cannot make more of. This is why it is important that we take care of this ranch to ensure it is here for generations to come. We focus on intensively managing the land to provide the highest quality forage for the cattle, while still maintaining soil quality. Through rotational grazing we are able to extend our grazing season, while allowing adequate rest for the grass to recover. 

Cattle

 The animals that we are building here are designed to work just as hard as we work. Everyone knows that ranching is not easy. It can take a toll on us, which is why it is important that the cattle can work for themselves and work for us. Fertility is the backbone of our herd. Cattle need to breed first time, calve unassisted and be able to breed back again after calving. A backbone can’t hold itself up right without a solid base. Excellent feet and fantastic udders make the base that we are building upon. Once you have built in the base, added the fertility, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor, longevity and performance in their environment.
